It's Been a While.

Wow, it's been too long, but the close of the semester was a little hectic, so that's why I wasn't able to update this thing.

I can't believe my time in College Station is over. I wish I had soaked it up more when I was a freshmen and sophomore. I think I took it a little for granted. But now I'm home, and I'll be student teaching at Goodson starting in January. I'm very nervous and very excited. It'll be quite a different experience, but I've enjoyed learning from my observations in methods, so I'm sure this will be just as much fun!

Well, I got another puppy. Her name is Amber (Princess Jessica's Amber Ale is her registered name; pretty much the same as Abbey's). She's a sweetheart, but she does not like her crate. The first night I had her (the night before last) she pretty much whined and cried the whole night, which is what I expected. So, I started getting nervous, and I semi started having second thoughts. But last night was a lot better. I read an article online about how to crate train puppies, and I tried the method they were talking about, and it worked a lot better. She only cried a couple of times, and I only had to take her outside at 2 in the morning (instead of 11, 1, 3, and 5 the night before!). I think she'll start to get used to it... or at least she better! Haha.

I'm excited about this Christmas break because I'm going to be doing a lot of preparations for next semester and even grad school I think. I thought about working at On The Border for a few days, but that really started stressing me out. I thought I deserved a little bit of a break before I really dive into a (sort of) career... even though I don't think my dad's too happy about my decision. I, of course, would like to make some money, but I don't think waiting tables is for me. I might do a little babysitting, which I haven't done in years, and I think that would be so much fun.

As all the Christmas hustle-and-bustle begins, I literally have to stop and think about why this time of year is so special. Yes, it's a blessing to spend time with friends and family and exchange gifts and decorate the house with trees and bows and such. But do we know why we get to do all these things? I mean, yes, of course we know why, but do we really? And do we really show it? I get so caught up with the stress of figuring out what I'm going to get people for Christmas, that I don't enjoy the symbolism behind gift-giving. Just keep that in mind as you get swept away by the pretty lights and Christmas trees (because who doesn't get swept away by those pretty things??). I know we hear it every year, but remember the true meaning behind Christmas... because it's GLORIOUS!
